Trail Helper — offline VoiceAssist trail companion
PlannedField toolsRecord a trail walk with no signal: Start at the trailhead, drop pins as you go, and everything stays on your device.
What it is
An installable app that works forever offline: press Start at the trail entrance, mark signs, lookouts, and landmarks with one tap, sleep it to go completely dark, and stop at the exit. Voice-assisted capture (opt-in) snaps a photo and saves a voice note every time you speak — detection happens entirely on the device, and the app never transcribes what you say. Your home is never in the record: capture begins only when you press Start, and an optional privacy zone refuses anything near home. Nothing uploads, ever — your walk becomes standard files (GPX, GeoJSON) only when you export them yourself. In active development; it arrives on this shelf when the field test passes.
Works offline / on-deviceCamera & microphone consent
Camera and microphone are explicit opt-ins, asked each session — reopening the app never silently re-enables them. A visible indicator shows whenever either sensor is live, and Sleep releases everything. Voice detection runs entirely on the device; speech is never transcribed on the phone and no audio leaves it except by your own export. A wellness and accessibility aid — voice capture exists so walkers who cannot watch or tap a screen can still keep a trail record. Not a navigation, medical, or emergency device.
